|Republicans Don't Want
a Big Tent OR a Small Tent-
They Just Want a STRONG Tent!
|Editor's Note: The Foregoing expresses
the opinions of the author and not necessarily
those of The Cool Conservative.
I heard Dick Durbin talking about the Republican Party. He's never had anything nice to say
about Republicans before- but there he was, expressing his grave concern for the Party. He
was worried that if it doesn't moderate, move to the center, relegate social value issues to
the lowest echelon and turn away from divisive conservatives, it will die. His emotions
seemed so real. His concerns have been echoed by every conceivable establishment media
talking head and every Democrat pundit. And they are all so very concerned that the Party
will be damaged if Conservatism is not diminished. Do they think we are idiots? Do they
think we are stupid enough to believe that they want the GOP thriving, strong and
growing? It is like one super bowl team accepting plays sent over from the opposing coach
with a note saying that he "didn't think they were being coached right- that he was
concerned about them". Can you imagine any team so stupid that they'd accept those plays
with wide-eyed gratitude? Well, you don't have to be that creative. You can observe just
such a reaction among some of the GOP leadership right now.
Witness the recent and ill-fated National Council for a New America (NCNA). The so-called
listening tour was born, I'm sure, of good intentions. However, from its very inception it
completely embodied all the failed communication strategies that have become the hallmark
of the Party.
1. It was reactionary. Launching this effort immediately after the defection of Specter was
ridiculously stupid. For someone who only became an "R" for ballot placement in the first
place to become a "D" for the same reason should not have been such a big deal. The
appearance that this whole national effort was formulated as a response gave Specter far
too much importance. If the timing was a coincidence, it still demonstrates a remarkable lack
of PR savvy and flexibility on the part of the planners.
2. It was based in a negative premise & used negative terminology. "Re-branding"
the Party? Self-defeating. It implies that the Party is weak and needs repair. These are dark
times. People are floundering and looking for assertive leadership. This kind of attitude
provides none. These GOP Leaders should have come out blazing, with a confident,
positive attitude and an unshakable faith that Republican ideals ARE what most Americans
believe right now and are what will save this Nation.
3. As usual, the GOP allowed the left to define all the terms and lay out the game
board. When and where did all of this "big tent- move to the center" talk originate? Was it
some national, grassroots outcry from the people? Absolutely not. Think back and you'll see
that this talk percolated to the top when chinks in Obama's armor began to appear- when
there WAS an outcry from the people of concern about the Democrat efforts to take this
country down a road to socialism. Brilliantly, the Dems distracted with this endless drivel
about the GOP being taken over by Conservatives and, stupidly, the Republicans played
right into their hands with weak, simpering answers to questions that should have been
firmly dismissed- not addressed. Most Americans believe the principles that the GOP
professes in its Party Platform. Nobody has ever been thrown out for not agreeing with every
plank. That is a false premise. It was Powell's own decision to support the opposition. It was
Specter's own decision to defect.
4. The NCNA did not speak with a clear voice. They were scattered and diffuse. Without
impact. Jeb Bush made some ill-advised comments about Reagan and took the organization
down with him. This could only happen because the group was not communicating
effectively. Listening is part of communication- not a substitute for it.
5. Not enough thought was given to the basics. The title, itself, is not good. It isn't
catchy. It fails to engender enthusiasm and does not convey any connection with real
people. The fact that they launched this campaign and went public before they even had a
web page, e-mail address and a phone line speaks, pathetically, for itself.
6. They have forgotten that we only win when we offer a choice. Americans today
want answers, solutions and clear alternatives to Obama policies. Conservatism is that
alternative. Eventually, even "moderate" politicians will come to realize that and still find a
home in the GOP as they have for many decades. It is the contrast with the status quo
that will return the GOP to power, not some wispy attempt at imitation. Moreover, it is
morally wrong for the Party leadership to countenance any actions to "rid the Party of
Conservatives." The Republican Party has a Platform that grew from a long process that
involved input from Republican activists in cities, counties and states, offering, debating and
then approving those planks. Weak-willed-desperate -to-win leadership cannot rid the
Party of Conservatism because that Conservatism comes from within- from the
people. Rush Limbaugh did not force Conservatism on the Party. He is successful because
he speaks a message that resonates with millions- most of them the same Republicans who
created that Platform. Limbaugh reflects them. The Dems seem to realize this or they would
not devote such effort to his destruction. Sadly, the GOP leadership seems to have
forgotten. Instead, they allow the Democrats and the Media to define Limbaugh for them and
they respond to that.
7. The Dems and the Left have a brilliant plan. The same lacklustre, wishy-washy
Republicans have been calling the shots behind the scenes for a long time now. The Left
knows that they lack resolve and if they publicly ridicule them for losing the love of people
like Powell, then these sycophant Republican leaders will give in and play their game. It
worked perfectly just recently when a naive White House and National GOP leadership
actually allowed the other side to select our nominee for us!. (If I had a nickel for every time
Bob Beckel said that McCain was the ONLY candidate with a chance, I'd be rich enough to
survive Obamanomics!) Obama and his partisan buddies know that if they can bamboozle
the GOP leadership again and chide them into turning on people like Rush Limbaugh and
the Conservatives within their own Party, then the Party will self-destruct. It's obvious.
Conservatives will have no place to go. A third major party will, then, emerge. This is
Obama's dearest hope. This is the plan. Obama and his partisan buddies know that there
is not enough time to organize and entrench a new party. They know that the third party
movement will solidify their support and divide the opposition's support. I think Obama
keeps a picture of Ross Perot in his wallet!
The only hope is for GOP leadership to stop trying to please their enemies and to
try- for once- to please their base. The base wants decisiveness and confidence. Colin
Powell chose to support a leftist Democrat for President over a moderate Republican.
NOTHING he says Now should have any credence whatsoever. This big tent chatter is
emanating from people like Powell, Specter, GOP-hating media types and Democrat
strategists. It is garbage should be kicked to the curb!

I once set up a workshop to help people in identifying and resisting unethical sales practices.
Gee. I wish I'd known Barrack Obama back then- because today he's giving us a clinic...
My workshop participants were told that unethical and "pushy" sales people often
use the following 10 techniques:
1. "They Sell Hope"
President Obama certainly demonstrates how this is done. A case in point is his treatment of
the so-called Stimulus or Economic Recovery Bill. He was very persuasive in his claims that this
legislation would not only save and transform the economy, but would actually put large
amounts of money in the pockets of the citizenry. An unrealistic hope at best.
2. " They Create a Sense of Urgency"
"You've got to make your decision NOW", "This deal will not last if you don't sign NOW." these
kinds of statements are the hallmarks of the successful pushy salesman. Similarly, Obama told
us that we had to have acted IMMEDIATELY to save our country. The buyer (the American
taxpayer) was denied any time for consideration or examination and forced into imprudent
action. The pushy salesman will not give a customer time to read and understand the "small
print" in a contract much in the way Nancy Pelosi insisted on a vote on this Bill without a
3. "They Present Themselves as the Only Authority"
Not only did Obama blithely dismiss any economic authority who disagreed with the approach
of this bill, he subtly demeaned them and openly used irresponsible generalizations to
4. "They Lie"
President Obama claimed this bill contained no earmarks. Remarkable!
5. "They Pressure the Customer to Expand the Sale, to Buy ADD-ONS They Don't
Want or Need".
This Bill should have contained ONLY tax cuts that would have put money in the pockets of
consumers and would have been constructed specifically to spur new job creation in the
private sector, and perhaps some limited funding for carefully selected infrastructure projects
that would be essential anyway and could create jobs immediately. Instead, this pushy
democrat sales team tossed in all kinds of "accessories" such as moves toward nationalized
6. "They Use Inflated Values, Inflated Prices and False Discounts"
To accomplish real and immediate economic stimulation and job creation, many economists
believe that only a fraction of the price tag on this measure was needed. Yet, an outrageously
large cost was presented and then a reduced compromise cost was reached. The price tag
was still ridiculously high and using SOP pushy sales tactics the Obama team crows endlessly
about the "cuts" their measure has taken.
7. "They Try to Appear Unbiased"
The President and his Congressional Henchmen talk about this Bill in context of saving the
people in hopes that nobody will realize that they do have a stake in the passage of this; that it
directly rewards their political cronies and dramatically increases the governmental powers that
they, as a group and as individuals, will have.
8. "They Use 'Bait 'N Switch' Tactics and Deceptive Packaging"
Members of the House and Senate and the citizens of this Country were informed that we
needed a bill to provide economic stimulus. After everyone entered into negotiations for that
kind of Bill, behind the curtain it was switched with an incredible left-wing wish-fulfillment
spending Bill. Just as a shady salesman might sell a tiny jar of moisturizer in a huge box full of
Styrofoam, the portions of this legislation are buried inside a huge package of garbage.
9. "They Say Exactly What People Want and Need to Hear, Whether It Is True or Not
and They Evade Direct Questions"
If you saw President Obama's Press Conference on February 9th, no further discussion is
AND FINALLY: Dishonest, Pushy Sales Technique # 10: "They Create Fear"
President Obama discussed this bill in increasingly dramatic language. "This is the greatest
disaster since 1929", "If we fail to pass this Bill into law, the economy will be irreversibly
destroyed", and so on. Senator Specter is a prime example of a weak-willed customer who
bends to these fear tactics.
Clearly, Pelosi and Reid ran a very aggressive boiler room and Obama could be the
best door-to-door salesman of all time. He used every trick in the book to sell us
history's biggest boondoggle of a vacuum cleaner. And as one would expect from
such an appliance, it will drain America's wealth from the taxpayers for the
foreseeable future. And now that America has fallen for these high pressure sales
tactics, the "sucker" mark will be placed by the door and the Obama sales team will
be back- again…and again and again…

Three Petrifying Predictions!
read our Lexicon entry about all the “isms”, give it a gander. Obama is embracing “globalism” in a
big way and giving this one a new, enhanced meaning. These people truly do have a world view.
Their end-game is the establishment of a world government that they will control. The strength of
America is not, for them, a goal but rather something to be bargained away. No one will ever
dissuade me from this belief. All the Administration’s actions that weaken America are being
chalked up to incompetence or miscalculation. Neither is true. Their point here is to teach
Americans one big, global lesson: “We’re not so great. We’re not so special. Our economy is
weak. Our Dollar is weak. We must accept reality and accept the new GLOBAL CURRENCY and
turn in American money. We must accept our new, much-lessened role in the world.” Thus, my
prediction is that even if he makes noises of protest, Obama will fully cooperate in replacing US
currencies. The fact that top leaders of the G-8 were given coins reading “United World Future
Currency” is a fact. Obama keeping his with him always to remind him of his goal- is just my
guess. Furthermore, I believe that the incredible complexities of switching monetary systems will
create the quintessential “ObamaCrisis”. This ObamaCrisis will permit so much government
interference in financial and commercial entities that it will allow the completion of much planned
Speaking of ObamaCrises, another is at the root of my second prediction. Folks in all quarters
are astounded at how punitive the totality of Obama policy is to small business in America.
They are equally amazed at how few of the Obama “solutions” are geared toward this economic
subset that is responsible for 99% of our economic health. Again, this is chalked up to
miscalculation or incompetence. As tempting as it is to assume it as such, alas, it is all designed
to create yet another ObamaCrisis. Yes, I can see it now: America’s small businesses in DIRE
crisis- due, of course, to Bush’s disastrous policies as inherited by the poor, hapless Obama.
What will the Obama do with such a fertile crisis? First he will declare that Employers providing
health insurance for workers is the core problem and that the “public option is more vital than
ever; its passage as part of healthcare reform absolutely URGENT.” Meanwhile, the ongoing
Republican criticism of the administration’s anti-small business policies will reach a crescendo at
which time Obama will use it as the propellant to secure national health care. Then he’ll start
talking about the BURDENS on small business owners- the BURDENS of management, the
BURDENS of understanding and implementing workers’ benefits and the BURDENS of knowing
what constitutes equitable compensation and understanding the maze of government regulation.
Not to worry. As usual this ObamaCrisis will come with an ObamaSolution built in. The Obama will
point to the SEIU (Service Employees International Union) as the template of perfection. A
massive union just like that could save all of America’s small business owners from all those
horrible burdens. He’ll explain to us that the Service Employees International Union has made life
better for all the employees and the institutions at which they work. He will establish the Small
Business Employees Union and he’ll sell it as step toward equality for American workers. Thanks
to him, employees of small businesses will have access to all the marvelous benefits available to
employees of big labor union businesses and SEIU-served businesses. Even though Obama will
say enrollment in the SBEU will be “voluntary”, small business owners will be jumping ship at
blinding speed. What, then, of all the unemployment that will ensue? We bought-out and bailed-
out big business. Of course we must do the same for small businesses. You guessed it. The
Administration will buy-out small businesses and administer them under the control of the Small
Business Czar. That’s the end-game. They’ve shown us that they can take control of a major
industry with relative ease. The problem has been these little pockets of independent thinking
that are America’s small businesses. This strategy ought to take care of that.
My third tale of terror: the silencing of dissident voices. The Obama is furious at his falling
numbers and he knows EXACTLY where to lay the blame. He’d like to come down on disobedient
media with a hammer the way mentor, Chavez, has done. However, Americans still have too
much hope- too much fight- and too many still own weapons. No, overt won’t do it. Obama will be
more subtle and he will attack the problem from multiple angles. When his merry little troop of
dictators fist arrived at 1600, most Americans were upbeat: “The Congress will NEVER reinstate
the Fairness Doctrine”. By now, most have caught on to the reality that it is the Chairman of the
FCC who has the power to revive the Doctrine. He doesn’t need Congressional or Executive
permission. However, the words “Fairness Doctrine” have become a lightning rod. Yes, you’re
right again. They’ll take the “we must have local and minority voices, discussing local and not
national issues” route. They might have done this already but there’s a problem- money. After all,
they’ve trashed the economy and it would be risky to have ACORN and George Soros stake all
the selected people they want to plant in the new media. Enter: Son of Stimulus. In a new
stimulus bill watch for a hugely funded program “to help entrepreneurs”. This will fund all the new
“local” people who will fill the vacuum left by national conservative talk radio, which will have been
largely shut down in favor of “local “programming. Getting rid of FOX News will be more
challenging. They’ll start by going after Rupert Murdoch’s media empire on a variety of ant-trust
grounds. (Sorry, R. Know you were something of an Obama supporter but these guys eat their
young.) I don’t believe this will work. I don’t know how they’ll silence FOX. I’m still trying to figure it
out and I am only human. However, I’m only sure they’ll continue the hunt.

to shut people down like a computer that’s been fed too much data at once. He hopes that those who are still

5.) He has stock phrases that he uses to manage public perception.
a.) Whenever he desires to push through a law or policy that is beyond his proper authority, he always
makes a statement to the effect that he doesn’t want to take over, control or nationalize this or that
because he is too busy- that he “has too much on his plate with China, North Korea” and so forth to want
to control anything.
b.) Whenever he wants to do something but doesn’t want people to realize it he says he’s “not particularly
INTERESTED” in doing it. A perfect example: as a candidate he said he was not interested in re-instating
the Fairness Doctrine. Gullible reporters, pundits and even some Republicans reported that “Obama does
not support the Fairness Doctrine.” Wrong. He said that the concept wasn’t the main issue attracting his “not
interested in running GM”. That only means he’s not excited about day-to-day operations, NOT the he
opposes putting that or any company under his control. Trained underlings use similar ploys: “We’re NOT

does NOT mean that it won’t be duplicated eventually, or, the Pay Czar “is not FOCUSED on pay caps.”
That just means that it is not priority at that moment. It does NOT mean that it will not be his focus tomorrow.
5.) He uses derision against opponents. The more he fears them, the snider his remarks.

The Ideological Division Between Fiscal Conservatism and
Social Conservatism Is Not as Clear as It Once Was
There was a time when a "moderate" Republican could make a case
for being a Conservative on fiscal and economic issues while being
liberal on issues like abortion and nationalized health care. Obama
and company have changed all that. They have woven their ultra-left
social agenda inextricably into every facet of the economy. They are
indistinguishable. At their hands tax dollars and Borrowed government
funds are moved around for the sole purpose of buying the agenda.
Every dollar is earmarked for Big Brother. Today anyone who says
they support abortion, must for all practical purposes, support how it is
that abortion can exist within the programs of expensive- irresponsibly
financed "women's reproductive rights" programs. Every socially liberal
cause that separates a moderate from a Conservative has a huge
complex, fiscally irresponsible price tag attached. Today, how can
anyone even be a moderate? Fiscal conservatism is not even possible
in the advocation of liberal agendas.
It Is Cap and Trade That will Harm the Planet!
The Enviro-Whackos that are pushing Cap N’ Trade are either
incredibly stupid, astoundingly gullible or they are not being honest
about their game. It is dictated by logic. .American industry may not be
perfect- but it cares and it tries to follow regulations and to be
responsible. Industry in China and similar manufacturing venues does
not care- does not try. After the enforcement of C&T, American
industry will begin to fold. The percentage of goods for world
consumption made in the USA will Plummet. The percentage made in
enviro offenders like China will skyrocket because C&T won’t diminish
demand. The more manufacturing done outside of US borders the
more pollution. Congrats, Enviro-Whackos. You will have done it
yourselves- and that’s a simple truth.
Specter Did Not Leave GOP because of SOCIAL issues!
Those who seek to cause confusion and a deadly lack of resolve and
identity within the Republican Party continue to point to Arlen Specter
as the poster boy of being drummed out of the GOP because of a
leftward list on social issues. In reality, this former Democrat has
always leaned to left on SOCIAL Issues and conservatives have always
politely held their noses and welcomed him. It was not until Specter
went left on FISCAL matters and voted for the Stimulus Bill that real
opposition solidified. So that is the SIMPLE TRUTH: SPECTER WAS
REJECTED FOR FISCAL LIBERALNESS AND NOT for SOCIAL
ISSUES. There could not be a tent big enough to include him after he
betrayed the fiscal principles that ALL Republicans share.
As long as the Media is a Puppet of the Administration, the GOP
will never be perceived as sympathetic by Hispanics or any
For this reason, to "sell out" in opposing Sotomayor, or concerning
any other issue is not only, unprincipled and a betrayal of the people,
it would be a stupid waste. The simple truth is, GOP Senators and

nothing to lose.

your interpretation is a bit off the mark. Yes, the prescription drug measure can be defined as having
some socialistic characteristics, but it was wrought as a part of a pre-existing system, long in place and
long embedded in the lives of our senior citizens. It may have overstepped the boundaries of
government involvement, but more culpability lies with the originators of the system, itself. As for the
TARP- Obama's buds Geithner and Summers did not handle it well (see ammunition for more) but it was
intended to provide short term loans to specific entities to loosen credit. Our government, for better or
for worse, has been offering loans and grants to businesses for decades. The government has been
acting as an insurance agent as FDIC. In short- yes one can find examples in the past of excessive

The Theft of the Census
There's a lot to learn from Obama's power play. It supports all suspicions that this
will stop at nothing to manipulate elections and
all levels of representation and governmental authority. It shows a lack of honor as this was
a "politicized zone" recognized by all predecessors. And, happily, the whole affair
demonstrates a remarkable lack of discipline in
a young and arrogant administration. It is pretty obvious that this intention was not
be shared with the people until after Gregg was firmly in place. Because Gregg has a
history of a very public stand that the Census must be kept away from all political influence,
it would have been very advantageous to have him on board when the President's men
made their play. It would be like having a uniformed security guard driving the get-away car
for a bank heist. It would have been brilliant. Too bad these people can't keep their mouths

always simply a contest between two candidates. Sometimes an election is about much, much
against your incumbent Senator. You represent all of us now and you are being asked to vote
yes or no. Yes, we want the Liberal/Democrat/Obama Administration Axis to have TOTAL control

voters of Georgia can speak for all of us and say NO! No to the tyranny of the Left Axis. You can

sarcasm has much more in common with the "cut-'em- dead" remarks of LBJ
than with the gentle wit of JFK.
LBJ was a ruthless, hard-nosed political boss. We see now that Obama's
Chicago-style political machine could make LBJ's people look like girl scouts.
Under Obama, American social values and policies impacting American families
are undergoing their greatest period of devastation since the enactment of
initiatives based in aggressive social engineering accomplished through an initiatives
based in aggressive social engineering accomplished through an unprecedented
level of federal government intrusion and control. It is thanks to the "Great
Society" that the door to public health care was kicked open with Medicaid and
Medicare, and that the National Endowment for the Arts was created. The
endangered species Act, now so twisted in California, came into being with many
other environmental acts.as well as many, many welfare programs such as food
stamps. "Community action and organizing" became part of the matrix of government
with LBJ and he oversaw the government funding and control of education being
removed from local authority and placed in Federal hands. Johnson also created
National Public media and also inserted government authority into every level of
transportation. Clearly Obama has picked up LBJ's baton.
We stand today on the precipice of the most startling similarity
between these two: Viet Nam and Afghanistan.
Many today wail that Afghanistan will be another Viet Nam. I believe it is a tragic
certainty. But it is not because of the wars, themselves, but because of the
Commanders in Chief at their waging. I don't accept the posit that Viet Nam was a
"BAD war". We have forgotten. We have forgotten that Viet Nam was a beautiful,
peaceful agricultural nation. Viet Nam was a very loyal friend to the United States and
entitled to our protection through a long standing series of treaties and agreements.
The Viet Cong were aggressive, communist troops that were funded and assisted by
Communist China and the Soviet Union. They moved through Viet Nam
"guerrilla-style", attacking one peaceful village after another. Their usual MO was to
disembowel the oldest daughter of the mayor in front of him to gain his cooperation.
Young men were forced into service, many girls and women raped, countless
innocent, unarmed citizens killed and many villages destroyed. Of course we should
have come to their aid. The war did not become a "bad war" until it became politicized
by President Johnson. He disregarded calls to allow air strikes on VC supply lines. He
did not supply or condone what could have brought sure victory because he did not
want to anger his anti-war base. Yet, he did not want to appear to be a complete
that's what created the negative image of this war.
I see Obama as very ready to leap into LBJ's footsteps. Already, we hear of American
troops not getting what they need to win in Afghanistan but still being ordered to stay.
I fear that Obama will be too afraid to provide what his own General tells him is
needed for victory lest he anger his anti-war base. I fear that he will maintain troops
that there in some sort of holding pattern so that he won't look like a complete
coward and someone who lied when he passionately pushed for a victory in
Afghanistan as a candidate. The press played a big role in vilifying our American
troops in Viet Nam while attempting to spare Johnson. I pray we do not see a repeat
of that, but, sadly, I would not be surprised.
powers that be find a way to relocate a few of the fish and allow the water to flow, the
farms to flourish, the towns that they supported thrive and families to have food and

For all the criticism leveled against Sarah Palin for using the term "death panel",
there is actually some validity to the reference. Early in the discussion of ObamaCare
there were oblique references to "productivity" as the yardstick for evaluation as to
whether some one would be worthy of the expense of medical care. They've dressed
it up and clothed it in a new vocabulary. Nonetheless, it is clear by a thousand subtle
phrases and a few direct actions, that budget considerations and not the intrinsic
value of humanity that steers the boat.
Granted death would not necessarily be forced on senior, sickly or disabled persons
by a government panel. There is no doubt that they would be encouraged to hasten
toward death as a cost-saving measure.
Although the 13 year old girls mentioned as imported child prostitutes in the "ACORN

not only did the ACORN employees not bat an eye but most of the New Left have
expressed only that this is a very minor incident. Several young girls- their innocence
and futures trashed to make money for others- this represents profound human
loss. The new Left cares not.
This is born out in the ideology publicly expressed by several f the President's New
Left Czars. Their radical views on abortion, animal rights, euthanasia and eugenics
We are suffering constant infringements to our liberty and endless barrages against
our national prosperity. Yet, before this is over we will see that no single
philosophical movement has harmed us more than the Administration's
ever-increasing penchant to devalue our humanity.
This will not end well. History tells us that it never has.

troubled marriage. For the sake of the kids- let’s try to work it out.The
relationship between conservatives and the Republican Party is like a
The recent “Report” from the RNC has driven many Conservatives over the
edge. Euphemistically, it constituted the revealing pictures from the private
eye that prompted many a “That’s it-it’s over!” moment. And some
lobbying for the Libertarian Party or some yet to be born third party play
the role of the busybody neighbor, whispering in the a tearful Conservative’
s ear, “Go ahead and leave that nasty Party. They’ve been unfaithful. Storm
out the door and don’t look back!”
I’ve had such thoughts. It is tempting. But let me be the countering voice:
Stop. Take a deep breath. Let’s think this through. You have America’s kids
Now- I am not defending the Party or that Report. Much to the contrary, I
believe that many, many major changes must be made. I have a realistic
view of the enormity of the task that lies before us in rescuing the GOP.
Not only must we stabilize, clarify and reinvigorate core conservatism, we
must radically reform the operational structure and the most basic
methodology of campaigning.
As a Conservative I do see that this union is in trouble. But I can’t walk
away. THERE IS TOO MUCH AT STAKE. The Libertarian Parry has been
around for decades, yet they are still far from having anybody on the ballot
in all 50 states. You don’t just snap your fingers and wish a powerhouse
political party into existence. It takes a lot of work- a lot of maneuvering-
and a lot of TIME (the one thing we don’t have).
So- in short people- we must stop wasting our time with “both parties stink
and I’m better than both of ‘em” rhetoric, either coming from
sanctimonious pundits or from ourselves. We must accept and absorb the
reality that the only real hope to defeat the Obama/Soros/ liberal onslaught
is a sharp, effective and solidly Conservative Republican Party. That’s it.
So, as the marriage counselors say,” just do the work.”
Transform bitterness into dedication and anger into action. We are
Americans. We put men on the moon. Certainly we can reclaim a political
party and replace inept leadership.
One last cautionary note- if you do find yourself in the throes of frustration
and decide to throw the baby elephant out with the bath water, remember
that we are in the penthouse and it won’t be pretty.

Stupid. A stupid question. I don’t know of anyone who is not
preoccupied with the economy. I suspect the point of asking this in a
time of economic crisis is to elicit answers that minimize social issues.
This tired, old strategy has led the Republican Party to many recent
failures and defeats.
The road to victory lies in solidifying conservatism-not in subdividing it.
